Colorism is a form of prejudice usually from members of the same race in which people are treated differently based on the social implications from cultural meanings attached to skin color. This prejudicial treatment is still relevant to the members of the South Asian society today. Dark skinned women experience the same negative outcomes as everybody else but have to also deal with the added pressure of society's unrealistic standards of beauty.

This portrait series highlights the reinforced idea of self-love and that melanin is beautiful in all skin tones.
